[Audio] Prolific – Sham (prod. Prolific & James Pew)

Originally from Lennoxville, QC but now residing in Toronto, Prolific has released the first single from his upcoming sophomore album, Amor Fati. Production for “Sham” was handled by Prolific and James Pew of Euphonic Sound.

Prolific’s musical career has travelled lyrically, sonically and geographically. After a full-length release out of Montreal he is now working to add a new album to the thriving hip hop scene in Toronto. Working with genre-merging producer James Pew at Euphonic Sound, the new album is shaping up to be Prolific’s most exciting work to date. “Sham” re-affirms Prolific’s hip hop roots while lending to new artistic directions. Lyrically both contemplative and critical; the song creates an inner dialogue for his listeners that questions norms. “Sham” can be likened to work by El-P and Trent Reznor, but distinguishes itself as purely Prolific.

[Video] Raz Fresco – Breathe

“Breathe” is the third video from Raz Fresco’s CakeyPocket$. The video was shot by Josh Mankz and directed by Raz Fresco.

The third visual off Raz Fresco’s self-produced CakeyPocket$ mixtape “Breathe” is now out. The self-directed/edited video is a collaboration effort between Raz and Josh Mankz off an upcoming film group based in the GTA. 17 year old Raz, who has produced for the likes of Mac Miller, Tyga, French Montana, Big Sean, BoB, and Wale crafts a beat for Breathe that fits perfectly into the underlying theme of CP$ as it is an ode to the tireless workers/dreamchasers who over-exert themselves to achieve their goals. A very powerful speech entitled “The Formula To Success” by Eric Thomas (ET The Hip Hop Preacher) is used at the beginning and end of the song to properly paint the picture. As an outro, Raz couldnt of selected a more fitting set of words to wrap up the tape. Shot in Toronto, the video interpretation of the song see’s Fresco cruising in front of a beautiful Toronto skyline and quickly emerging on top of the city through slowly rising symbolically in an elevator.

[Video] Gardener – I Love Black People

New video from Gardener, directed by by Christian Caldeira.

I am very proud of my race and my people. It is just that some of the most painful heartache I have felt has been at the hands of people from my own race. And that has had a considerable effect on me. In one of the greatest shows ever created (not a fact just guessing hah!) Boondocks Huey states
“You do what you can to help black folks, and they make you wonder why you even bother. But they’re our people, and we gotta love ’em regardless.”

And these are words I have chosen to live by.
