Goliath Paw recently released his EP, Canary In A Coal Mine, which features production from Sinima Beats, Marcus Kane, SupaCrank It, Superstar 0 and Industry Rejectz.

Canary In A Coal Mine (EP) is a collection of songs written and recorded by Canadian urban artist Goliath PAW. This EP takes hiphop and combines it with a heavy pop and rock influence creating a unique sound and style all in its own. Each song promises a story for the listener to follow delivered alongside clever wordplay and a sense of humor. All songs are upbeat with the exception of “GetAway” a slower tune with a deep thought-provoking story. With concepts everyone can relate to, songs like “Weirdos Win” and “Higher” teach self confidence while “Buried Alive” deals with matters of the heart. The name “Canary In A Coal Mine” is an old saying which today translates to “warning.”

“By naming the EP “Canary In A Coal Mine” I am sending out a warning to the Hiphop world that I have come to change the way rap music is written, recorded, and heard!” – Goliath PAW

Rayne Drop releases Phantom Of The Chopera

Saskatchewan native and producer Rayne Drop has released his debut EP, Phantom Of The Chopera. The project features emcees from across Canada, from Toronto (iLLvibe, Truth Willis and Mickey Ulster) to Vancouver, Edmonton, Barrie and Prince Albert.

The dirty instrumental introduction, with it’s dark synths and crunching kicks, will make any rapper worth his or her salt want to jump on it; the path for this project has been clearly laid from the beginning. From the early Kanye-esque string sample of ‘The Revolution’; the stabbing horns of ‘Real’; the eerie vocal sample on ‘Pride’; the mid-90s New York vibe of ‘Basic’; the bouncy ‘A Little Rain’ (Fun Fact: the beat was picked by Rayne Drop’s son); the gritty cinematic ‘Confirmed Kill’ and the anthemic ‘Air Jordans’, ‘Phantom Of The Chopera’ truly appeals to fans of every facet of the genre.

D-Sisive and Tone Mason release Raging Bull EP

Raging Bull is a new EP from D-Sisive and producer Tone Mason.

A week before Christmas, and two days before the release of this record – I was laid off from my job. Never has time been so appropriate to release a project like this. Sure, my albums are never filled with sunshine, but this flame came from a different pit.

Two months ago, I was contacted out of the blue by Grammy nominated producer, Mellenius [Tone Mason], via Gmail chat. It was a message so straight to the point I thought he messaged me by mistake. “I’m going to send you some new beats in a minute.” The last time we spoke was when I received a similar message from Toronto legend, Saukrates, to work with him on one of his new TM produced songs, Wednesday. Even then I don’t think I communicated with Tone Mason. Thrown off, I replied, “I think you have the wrong person,” and waited for an answer. I waited for three hours until I finally heard the notification bell. I clicked to the Gmail screen and read “No. I have the right person.” Next thing I know, my inbox was filled with monsters. Cinematic savages.

“We need to capture the rage,” Mellenius said. He brought up the movie, Raging Bull, and suggested the film be our foundation. I love the movie, and was totally down with the concept. We agreed to release the project on December 19th, the films 33rd anniversary. At the time, I was reading George Chuvalo’s autobiography, a Toronto-born boxer with a story similar to Raging Bull’s Jake La Motta. Everything clicked. I started writing.

A week before Christmas, and two days before the release of this record – I was laid off from my job. Never has time been so appropriate to release a project like this. I’ve always been fueled by struggle, and now my tank is full.

“So give me a stage where this bull here can rage.
And though I can fight, I’d much rather recite.” –Jake La Motta

That’s entertainment.

King Jus and Fresh Kils have joined forces for the Work Hard EP, which also features appearances from C.A.T. and Kolor Brown.

After many years of collaboration, infamous lyricist and edu-tainer King Jus, and MPC master and producer,Fresh Kils have finally reached the apex, bringing to fruition a project years in the making. With a title like ‘Work Hard’, and resumes as stacked as Vegas high rollers, one can safely assume the EP won’t disappoint. Each track is a tribute to another of life’s adversities, while keeping self aligned with the power of expectation, and not being defeated by the struggle. Vivid story telling couched in smooth grooves and funky, raw, hard hitting beats, the EP feels like a classic, but balanced with a modern technique. With these two titans combining forces, other crews definitely have their work cut out for them.
