[Audio] Lancecape – Face To Face (ft. Dan-e-o) (prod. Lancecape)

lancecape-renecosty-artwork

Lancecape releases the 5th single from Return To The Classics. “Face To Face” uses a Rene Costy sample and features Dan-e-o.

Featured on this track is none other than the Lyrical Mastermind himself, Dan-e-o. Being an MC for well over 20 years now, Dan-e-o is no chump when it comes to shreading a topic. “Face To Face” is much more than a concept. It’s a raw, uncut battle track taking aim at people who choose to call him out over social media rather than saying it to his face directly. Dan-e-o has had enough and has finally addressed the issue and feels anyone he may be talking about can get offended. But if they’re an MC (as they claim to be) they can keep it Hip Hop and settle it FACE TO FACE!

[Audio] David McCallum – The Return (ft. Grimace Love) (prod. Lancecape)

lancecape-davidmccallum-artwork

It’s Monday so that means a new track from Lancecape.

In typical Lancecape fashion he completely flips this sample. The David McCallum
sample is known to most people as Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode”. That song itself was a monster hit. It was only right for Lancecape to chop this sample up. He took it to a different space and time. Underwater/bass heavy drums, and the sample flipped into a double time almost bollywood type feel. Something to show the world that he isn’t just a boom bap producer.

Lancecape got one of the craziest MC’s he knows to rock on this. Grimace Love is a name you shall never forget. He went in and destroyed the beat. 36 bars of craziness. From top to bottom, Grimace Love flips his flow to accompany the rhythm. With a lyrical prowess that is not to be taken lightly. He is in a league of his own and nobody could have done justice to this beat the way Grimace Love did.

[Audio] Lancecape – James Brown (ft. Parker) (prod. Lancecape)

Mono_Mondays_2

This is the second single from Lancecape’s Return To The Classics Vol. 1 featuring fellow Monolith member, Parker.

Lancecape’s vision for this flip came from watching clips of some of his favorite DJ’s. Just watching how DJ’s flipped anything, by juggling two records sparked this entire project. This James Brown flip was played out live to capture the feel of a DJ routine. Just listen to the programming of the track and you should understand what Lancecape is talking about.

Parker, a long time friend and fellow Monolith member, completely destroys this beat. He showed up and proved why he should NOT be one of the most underrated MC’s in Toronto. He states “when writing this?, I was angry”. Lancecape welcomed the code talking, abstract flow and utter aggressiveness. Parker painted, framed and ultimately presented himself as the MC his hometown and the world need to recognize him as.

[Audio] Labi Siffre – Watch The Streets (ft. Korry Deez) (prod. Lancecape)

labisiffre-watchthestreets-artwork

Lancecape’s first single following the release of his Return To The Classics Vol. 1 is “Watch The Streets.” Labi Siffre’s “I Got The…” is sampled on this one and features Korry Deez

For this track, Korry has taken it upon himself to flip the song vocally. “Watch The Streets” tackles the reality of life growing up in a low income household/community. He speaks on the struggles of life inside and outside of his home growing up. It is a very relatable song, that has an extremely powerful message. Anyone who understands what he is talking about will gladly accept this song with open arms.

Lancecape releases Return to the Classics instrumental LP

Lancescape-ReturntotheClassics-artwork

Return To The Classics is Lancecape’s second project of the year. This time around he takes “it back to the classic samples” from artists such as Minnie Riperton, Billy Cobham, James Brown and Iron Butterfly, among others.

Lancecape has taken it back to the classic samples used in a lot of his favorite Hip Hop songs. Instead of taking the straight loop, Lancecape found pride in chopping up the samples to give it more of a new school feel. It is a dirty, dusty Hip Hop project from front to back. Heavy drums, accompanied by precise sample chops makes this project very innovative and original. Any true Hip Hop fan will gravitate to these instrumentals. Lancecape is also trying to educate the younger generation, that may not know about the classic groups from the mid-nineties that helped mold this genre of music into what it is known as today… HIP HOP!
