Nominees For 14th Annual Indie Awards Announced

The nominees for this year’s Indie Awards, which will be awarded on May 10th at Kool Haus, have been announced.

The nominees for Rap/Hip-Hop Artist/Group or Duo of the Year are Classified, Grand Analog, Rich Kidd, Shad and SonReal.

SonReal & Rich Kidd also find themselves nominated for Collaboration of the Year against Classified’s “Inner Ninja” (with David Myles), JRDN’s “Can’t Choose” (with Kardinal Offishall), The Weeknd and Drake’s “Live For” and “Beat This Heart” by Tim Chaisson and Serena Ryder.

Shad also finds himself nominated for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Video of the Year for “Remember to Remember.”

Nominees for SiriusXM Indies announced


The nominees for the upcoming SiriusXM Indie Awards have been announced. D-Sisive finds himself nominated for a couple awards including Rap/Hip-Hop Artist or Group of the Year along with Cadence Weapon, Kid Koala, Madchild and Shad.

He is also up for Collaboration of the Year for the track “Don’t Turn The Lights Out” featuring Neverending White Lights. Competition in that category includes Aleesia/Big Sean, Artists Against Bullying, Deadmau5/Gerard Way and Whitehorse.

The awards ceremony will take place on March 22nd at Kool Haus during Canadian Music Week.

Relic set for release of Miles To Go

Relic’s new LP, Miles To Go, set for release on September 11, is a showcase of his many talents as he wrote, recorded, produced and mixed the project on his own. There a few guests on the album including Shad, Ghettosocks, Brotha Soul and Mr. J. Medeiros.

Up-and-coming rhymesayer Tona has joined forces with DJ Wristpect and The DJBooth to bring listeners his latest digital release, the Reform School mixtape.

The project features 17 original cuts from the Scarborough, Ontario representer, including reader-approved leaks “Blue Shield,” “Neighbourhood,” “Hennessy Thoughts” and “We Do.”
